Across the country, abortion rights are under attack. Ignited by the belief that a conservative majority on the Supreme Court represents an opportunity to overturn Roe v. Wade, state legislatures are passing unconstitutional laws that restrict access to abortion. In some cases, the laws ban abortion outright in an effort to force the court to revisit Roe v. Wade. In others, they’re meant to make it so hard for someone to access abortion that it won’t matter whether Roe stands or not.

Political Education: Hyper-surveillance in Detroit

Date:
Tue, Jul 16, 2019 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

City:

Lack of affordable housing, contaminated water in our schools, unreliable public transportation, lack of access to HIV/AIDS medications, mental health facilities closings and lack of stable jobs. These are a few of many resources Detroiters are denied, because Duggan and Detroit city government has determined that a large portion of our budget should go towards hyper surveillance, facial recognition technology and over-policing in our neighborhoods in effort to stop crime.
