Kent County Progressive Caucus Meeting

Date:
Mon, Jul 9, 2018 - 6:00pm to 7:30pm

Let's get together before the Kent Dems Meeting on July 11th, and kick around some ideas as to how to move this party to the left. Let's face it, nothing new is happening, they're pushing the usual candidates to the forefront and leaving progressive candidates behind AGAIN. The Democratic Party is the party of the people and we must take it back. Right now we have about 20 active members, and we need to increase those numbers drastically. Supreme Court Justice Kennedy is retiring and things are going to get worse fast.

Don't Move, Fight Back! Housing Justice for Grand Rapids NOW!

Date:
Sun, Jun 24, 2018 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

*Our city is in a housing crisis. But we can fight back. Let’s Build a People’s Housing Plan for Grand Rapids.*

Working people in Grand Rapids face a housing crisis we didn’t create. Rents are going up, and it’s harder and harder to find an apartment. It’s even worse for women and communities of color. 74% of black or African-American renting households are cost-burdened (paying more than 30% of their income), and 55% of Latino renting househods are cost burdened in Grand Rapids (http://nationalequityatlas.org).
