Jenny Kinne from the Michigan League for Public Policy will be providing a free training on the state budget. She will review the current state of our budget, as well as the Governor's proposed 2017-18 budget. Special emphasis will be placed on healthcare funding. No matter what causes you are active in, our state budget affects you and those who you care about. Healthy communities are well-funded communities.

2017 Conference for the Great Lakes Areas of Concern Program

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality announce that the website, agenda and registration for the annual conference for the Great Lakes Areas of Concern program is now available. The conference will be held Wednesday-Thursday, March 29-30, 2017 at the Eberhard Center, Grand Valley State University, in downtown Grand Rapids, MI. It will run from 9:30 am on Wednesday, March 29 until 12:30 pm on Thursday, March 30.

River Network’s River Rally

Justin Amash Town Hall

The bill -- House Resolution 899 -- was sponsored by U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Kentucky. It is one sentence long: "The Department of Education shall terminate on December 31, 2018."

Other co-sponsors joining Massie and Amash in supporting the new bill include Reps. Andy Biggs, R-Arizona, Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, Matt Gaetz, R-Florida, Jody Hice, R-Georgia, Walter Jones, R-North Carolina, and Raul Labrador, R-Idaho.
