Juneteenth Celebration of Freedom

Soul Artistry LLC, will host a celebration to commemorate the history of Juneteenth on Saturday, June 16, 2018. The event will take place at the Kalamazoo Public Library Central location Van Deusen Room from 1:00-4:00pm. This family friendly event is free and open to all ages. The event will include live performances, vendors, youth activities and more.
Juneteenth is a celebration created by African-Americans to help commemorate the emancipation of slavery. The celebration is held every year on the 19th of June as on that day in 1865, slavery was abolished.

Protect Saheeda Action Day

Join other advocates for Ms. Saheeda Nadeem in a day of advocacy for immigration reform. We will gather at First Congregational Church at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 22, and caravan to Lansing where we will park at a sister church and walk ten blocks to the Capitol. Beginning at 12:30 pm, we will join efforts with citizens from across Michigan who share our concern for immigration reform.

A sign-making pizza party will be held on Monday, May 21 at 6:00 pm.

Fred Upton is on the conference committee which is coming up with the final draft which will be voted on soon.
