Community Benefits Ordinances: A Lansing Conversation

Date:
Thu, Oct 5, 2017 - 6:30pm to 8:00pm

City:

Join us as we host Rashida Tlaib of the Sugar Law Center and Linda Campbell of the Equitable Detroit Coalition to learn firsthand about their work establishing a community benefits ordinance in Detroit.

A community benefits ordinance is based on the principle that public investment should serve the public good. When real estate developers receive tax abatements from the city, they should commit to legally binding agreements with the larger community, ensuring that the poorest and most ignored of our city have a true voice in the process.

Come tell your legislators how you feel about this on Tuesday morning, Sept. 19th at 8:15AM at the House Ethics and Elections committee, room 308 Anderson House Office Building.
