This will be an event hosted by League of Women Voters and the Holland-Hope College Sustainability Institute to engage the greater Holland community in our personal, local, regional, national, and international actions to reduce our impacts on climate change.

Program and presenters begin at 6:30

Kyla McCallum Social Justice Awareness Club, Holland Christian High School

Moral imperative for action - George Heartwell, former mayor of Grand Rapids, ordained pastor , graduate of Western Seminary

Holland climate action plan (Holland Community Energy Plan) - Keith Van Beek, Holland City Manager

U.S. climate action plan (Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act of 2019) - Mary Ellen Mika Director, Global Compliance & Sustainability, Steelcase Inc.

The event will be held at the Jim and Martie Bultman Student Center which is located in the central campus, adjacent to Hope’s Pine Grove. Parking is available on the nearby streets.

The League of Women Voters national organization sees climate change as a " serious threat facing our nation and planet... supports climate goals and policies that are consistent with the best available climate science... individuals, communities, and governments must address this issue at all levels--local, state, regional, national, national, and global."

The board of LWV-Holland wants to be known locally as fully supporting this national position, especially as we approach the 2019 local elections and the 2020 national elections.
