A Community’s Response to the Rising Levels of Intolerance

How do we work with people who have different views from us? What is intolerance? How do we respond effectively to intolerance? How do we respond appropriately to our own intolerance of the status quo? Learn how to personally deal with intolerance. Hear what others have done to respond effectively to intolerance. Learn about choices. Hear from some who have taken action. Jackson Mayor Dobies and some City Council members will be present to respond to questions.

Panel includes:
Anthony Cleveland, Jackson College Professor leads a symposium on intolerance helps you understand what intolerance is, what causes intolerance and how can you change your response.

John Hart, Disabilities Connection, is a trained Community Organizer and will discuss various methods of Community Organization.

Becky McKinney, Baker College will discuss the concept of “Community Conversations” and how Jackson could initiate such conversations.
