A2 Police Task Force Meeting - Show up!

Thu, Aug 2, 2018 - 7:00pm to 10:00pm

The next Ann Arbor Police Task Force meeting will be on Thursday, August 2nd at 7:00PM at CTN.

This meeting will be recorded.
This meeting will have police present.
This meeting will have city administrators present, including the city administrator and city attorney.

The Police Task Force was created by Ann Arbor City Council after years of community organizing for accountability following the killing of Aura Rain Rosser by AAPD in 2014. At this meeting the Task Force will be discussing a draft of the policy that will become a police review board or commission. You can see this document on the Ann Arbor Police Task Force facebook page.

**At the last meeting, on 7/25/2018, the Task Force talked about subpoena power. While some Task Force members argued against it, we believe we may have won majority support for subpoena power. We are still asking that subpoena power be one tool in a toolbox of resources available to the Commission and will fight for the ordinance to not put limitations on its use.

Before next meeting, we are asking that Ann Arborites and anyone who interacts with AAPD e-mail the Task Force (A2PoliceTaskForce@a2gov.org) and argue in favor of the Commission having the power to compel documents and officers to cooperate with investigations, should the need arise.

We will post more information about their arguments against and the City Attorney's legal advice soon.
