Ann Arbor CCL Monthly Meeting

Date:
Sat, Jan 12, 2019 - 12:45pm to 2:45pm

City:

Citizens' Climate Lobby (CCL) is the most FOCUSED and INFLUENTIAL organization working on climate change legislation.

The Ann Arbor CCL chapter is one of ~400 active chapters in the U.S. working to put a price on carbon. Come to our monthly meeting and find out how you can help!

During our meeting we participate in a video conference call with other chapters around the country, featuring a different guest speaker each month. Following the call we discuss and plan local actions.

The guest speaker on the national conference call this month is journalist Amanda Ripley, a reporter who practices “solutions journalism” (https://thewholestory.solutionsjournalism.org/complicating-the-narratives-b91ea06ddf63) that digs below oversimplified narratives to get to the deeper truths about people and society. In the process, she has come across a way to address conflict that results in a more satisfying outcome: Complicate the narrative. As we engage in the difficult conversations needed to arrive at solutions to preserve a livable world, Amanda offers the tools to disrupt the intractable conflict that impedes our progress. Amanda has written for The Atlantic, Time magazine, Slate and the Wall Street Journal
