Healthcare Discussion Group

Date:
Sun, Mar 11, 2018 - 4:00pm to 5:30pm

City:

We are experiencing a healthcare crisis in this country. Over 60% of bankruptcies are due to medical costs. We spend more on healthcare than any other country, yet experience poorer health outcomes than those who have universal healthcare. Health outcomes have been shown to be particularly poor in poverty-stricken, working-class, black, and brown communities.

The Medicare for All coalition is made up of people from various jobs and lifestyles. Our coalition would like to push decision-makers to transition to a universal single-payer healthcare system. Where everyone is able to receive healthcare when they need it. We already are paying for a universal healthcare system without the benefits. We have the resources to take care of us all.

In this group, we would like to talk about the positives and negatives involved in transitioning to a universal healthcare system. Also, asking our community, what are the immediate problems that are families, friends, and neighbors are facing? What are the problems that our country as a whole is experiencing? We would like to offer local resources to assist people in receiving the treatment, care, and services they require. We have a list of resources that HVDSA has compiled and will continue to add to these resources as we learn about others.

We look forward to meeting and speaking with you! Please message us or write a note in the discussion if you have questions or suggestions. Thank you!
