Nonviolent Direct Action Training

Wed, Aug 9, 2017 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm

Please RSVP whether you can make it or not--I am hoping to order pizza so people can snack during the event!

Dinah Dewald,

We are the team signed up to find Bishop and call him out on climate denial and inaction. A Lansing Indivisible member, Kirsten, pointed out that because these actions will likely be very last minute and rapid response, it would be helpful to have a direct action training right off the bat so we can learn best practices, rehearse talking points, and do a roleplay to be as prepared as possible.

So, I'm organizing a Nonviolent Direct Action training this coming Wednesday, August 9th from 7-8:30pm, at 1461 Old Mill Road, East Lansing. Many of you may have taken part in confrontational direct actions like this before, many of you may not have. We'll go over some helpful tips and what to expect, and then get into specifics about this action: rehearsing questions or statements we want to make, best practices for taking Facebook Live video during an event, and practicing potential scenarios. It's also a great place to ask questions, and to brainstorm some more ideas on how we can track down Bishop.

I hope you can make it. I believe the more we practice and prepare, the more likely we'll have a powerful event that gains media attention for the cause--and also makes us feel powerful as participants.
