Peoples' May Day Picnic!

Date:
Tue, May 1, 2018 - 6:30pm to 9:30pm

City:

Meeting spot at West Park: around the amphitheater in the middle!!

“What are our responsibilities this May Day? Together we must occupy common space, and what better space to inhabit than the squares, parks, halls, streets, libraries, factories, schools, and plazas that have been privatized or simply abandoned?" --Peter Linebaugh

Whether you're joining in The Peoples' Pac Man: A May Day Street Game or not (though we encourage you to do so!), gather with fellow May Day revelers for a picnic. Let's celebrate this holiday birthed by anarchists in Chicago who became known as the "Haymarket martyrs," but extending back centuries to all sorts of rebellious and festive resistance, and forward to today.

Gather from 6:30 pm onward. (Those in the May Day Street Game may straggle in closer to 7 pm.) Bring food and nonalcoholic drink to share, zines and other literature to give out, games and music to play, flags and balloons to fly, a May Pole to dance around, and/or whatever other merry May Day fun you can dream up!
