September Membership meeting

Wed, Sep 20, 2017 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm

Over the next thirteen months, our local candidates are going to need our help in getting their messages out and getting people out to the polls to vote. It is critical that we mobilize Democratic voters in upcoming elections, if we are to have any chance at reversing some of the negative impact that our current leaders, both at the state and federal levels, have had on our communities.

One of the challenges that we have always faced in WWD territory is that a large part of the area is "low density" rural. But we're up to that challenge!

Come learn how to knock on doors and have effective political conversations with strangers. The intent is to learn the issues important to the people in your precinct, activate voters with positions aligned with Democrats, and build the grassroots for the next round of elections. No experience required! Special strategies for low density, rural precincts!

WWD Vice Chair, Brian Greminger, will be talking about how to have conversations with people about the issues concerning all of us these days.

Becca Maher, with Donna Lasinski's office, will follow up with information on how to make rural door-knocking easier.

Following the discussion, we will be asking anyone who can to sign up to join Donna Lasinski's team in canvassing some of the rural areas in Western Washtenaw County on Saturday, September 23rd. This kind of door-knocking - just having conversations with people about the issues - is one of the easiest ways to get involved, and is critical in our attempts to reach out to members of our community who may not feel that their voices are being heard. Please consider signing up to help out with this project.

Even if you can't join the team that Saturday, come learn about how to help in the future - let's make sure that we don't leave any voter unheard.
