Standing Rock Solidarity Night

Date:
Sat, Dec 17, 2016 - 4:00pm to 9:00pm

City:

Stop by for easy access to resources for showing solidarity with Standing Rock!

Earlier this month water protectors of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe won a great victory when the Army Corps of Engineers called for a halt on the construction for the Dakota Access Pipeline. While in some ways this was wonderful news leaving many feeling accomplished and inspired, it is important to remember that the fight is far from over.

Those in charge of the construction of the pipeline announced last week that they will continue with construction, accepting the fines that come with it. Knowing this and keeping in mind the new administration set to take over the white house in just a few months, it's important that we continue to support the struggle at Standing Rock for the respect and safety of the land, people, and histories there. We also need to continue making connections between this specific injustice and those experiencing struggles for water in other areas like Flint, Detroit, and communities outside of the U.S.

Supplies and resources provided at this event will include:

--Supplies to make protest banners to send to the #noDAPL water protectors at Standing Rock
--Phone numbers and scripts to call government offices and speak in support of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe
--Pre-written letters addressed to investing banks demand divestment from DAPL (you can also write your own letters and we will still send them!)
--Information for where to direct your donations if you are able to donate. We will have a computer for you to make donation online at the event and will also be collection cash donations to submit collectively at the end of the event.
--Snacks and kind people

Come sign some letters, make some phone calls and donations and talk about water justice!!
