Stop Trump Ann Arbor Organizing Meeting

Fri, Oct 6, 2017 - 6:00pm to 8:30pm

The meeting will be on the 3rd floor of the downtown Ann Arbor District Library in the "freespace" room. All who support the work of Stop Trump Ann Arbor and want to help organize are welcome.

More about our group:

Stop Trump Ann Arbor is a direct action organization formed to resist the Trump Administration and to help lead a united progressive social movement.

The Trump Administration coming to power is a crisis for the United States and the world. Trump came to power by inflaming the racism of his base of supporters and scapegoating immigrants and Muslims for the ills of our society.

Now we face constant and escalating attacks on immigrants, the rise of racism and hate crimes, increased fascist mobilizing, the threat of nuclear and conventional war, and attacks on every progressive gain previous activists have achieved.

Stop Trump Ann Arbor believes that relying solely on the usual political mechanisms of voting and pressuring politicians is insufficient to protect us from these threats. We are focused on building a direct action, grass roots movement to organize and protect our communities and to train bold new leaders.

Stop Trump Ann Arbor has organized:

-Immigrants rights organizing including the Ann Arbor/Ypsi Rapid Response Team to protest ICE presence in our community
-Deportation defense campaigns
-Protest in Lansing calling on the electoral college to “vote their conscience”
-Ann Arbor Impeachment March
-Rally to defend Planned Parenthood
-Rally against the bombing of Syria
-“Reject the Trump Agenda” rally at the state capitol

Stop Trump Ann Arbor has helped stop the deportations of several Ann Arbor community members. We also organize the Ann Arbor/Ypsi Rapid Response Team. The Rapid Response Team is a network of 450 activists who are notified via text message if ICE is seen in the area. We have pledged to show up and protest ASAP and try to protect our community members from deportation.
