Transgender Day of Remembrance Candlelight Vigil

Tue, Nov 20, 2018 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm

Held annually on November 20th since 1999, the Transgender Day of Remembrance is an international day of mourning for all those whose lives were lost due to transphobic violence. In Grand Rapids we are hosting our vigil at the Goei Center from 7-9pm.

We will read the names of each victim aloud and light a candle in their memory, and hear stories from trans and gender non-conforming folks about what what TDoR means to them. We try to center the voices of trans women of color, as they are disproportionately affected by violence and hate, and urge our community to take a stand against injustice so that some day there can be no mourning, only celebration.
