Winning Elections for A Progressive Future: A District Dialogue

Mon, Mar 5, 2018 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

In order to bring about progressive change, we must win elections. We will discuss methods to make elections open and fair, fix the Democratic party, and win in 2018.

Confirmed Panelists:

- Kelly Collison, Chair of MDP Progressive Caucus
- Brett Dreyfus, Meridian Township Clerk
- Mark Grebner, Political Consultant
- Walt Sorg, fmr. Board Member of Voters Not Politicians

Since announcing my candidacy for State Representative, I've knocked on thousands of doors across our district and had hundreds of conversations on doorsteps, at meet and greets, and at events throughout our community.

To learn more about what is important to the voters in the 69th District, I distributed lengthy surveys to voters and received hundreds of responses back. Reading over these has been a very informative experience.

One of the common themes I noticed from the surveys and my discussions is that people feel their state government has been ignoring them and that they just want to be listened to. I couldn't agree more.

For years, Republicans in the legislature have not seemed to have the best interests of regular people in mind, instead focusing on special interests and the corporate class. In our district, we've been very fortunate to have real leadership in the House and Senate.

To provide voters with more opportunities to engage with experts on issues and have their voices heard, I've decided to host a series of District Dialogues about the issues that are most important to us. We will hear from expert panelists, have the opportunity to ask questions, speak with one another, and have a dialogue as a group.
