Protest Criminal Separation of Families

Sat, Jun 23, 2018 - 12:00pm to 1:30pm

City:

On Saturday June 23rd at 12pm, Moratorium Now will convene a demonstration to condemn the horrors of family separation immigration policies, detailed in many recent news reports. Families arriving in the US are being torn apart by US Border Patrol. The US is traumatizing children by ripping them away from their families to be held in concentration camps and tent cities and then trafficked through adoption agencies or worse.

Thu, Jun 28, 2018 - 8:00am to 9:00am

The Kent County government currently has a contract with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This contract is causing tremendous harm to immigrant families and we demand that the Kent County Commissioners terminate the contract with ICE.

Join us at 8am at Calder Plaza for a brief Press Conference and bring signs. Afterwards we will attend the Kent County Commission meeting and during the public comment, invite people to speak about why a contract with ICE does harm in our community. Raise the Wages for Janitors and Custodians

Date:
Thu, Jun 14, 2018 - 11:30am

City:

On Thursday, June 14, SEIU launches a major campaign to raise the wages for janitors and custodians in Downtown Detroit to $15 an hour.

It’s amazing to see downtown Detroit bustling with
new investment, new buildings and new people.
We are the janitors and custodians who keep the
“resurgence” clean. Every day we see two Detroits.

One is in our communities where we are struggling to
raise our families and make ends meet, and the other
is the downtown and arena district bustling with new
investment, buildings and people.
