Pension Action Day

Date:
Tue, Nov 29, 2016 - 9:00am to 2:30pm

City:

There has been a lot of talk over the past few months in Lansing about public pensions, and there is a chance that before the Legislature closes the 2016 session, there will be an attempt to slash pension benefits for hard-working public employees across Michigan. Legislative leaders in the House and Senate have stated that “reforming” public pensions is one of their top priorities, but when they say “reform,” we know that they really mean “reduce,” “cut,” or “abolish.”

***URGENT UPDATE ON RASMEA"S CASE***

The Rasmea Defense Committee just now got word from Rasmea's defense attorneys that Judge Gershwin Drain cancelled the Daubert hearing that was scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, November 29th, in Detroit.

We have no idea what this means, besides the simple fact that the judge will be rendering a written decision without hearing arguments.

No Thanks, We Don't Want Your New Wayne County Jail

Date:
Thu, Nov 24, 2016 - 8:00am to 12:00pm

City:

Many of us want to go into hiding on a holiday that celebrates genocide. Instead, join us in educating people at the Thanksgiving Day parade about a institution that enforces the rawest form of structural violence; the prison-industrial complex. From our table near Central United Methodist Church, we'll be sharing hot cocoa, passing out prison abolition literature, and making some noise.
