Climate Change - Peter Sinclair

Date:
Thu, Apr 6, 2017 - 6:30pm to 9:00pm

City:

Peter Sinclair is a Michigan resident who has paid a lot of attention to the science of climate change. He spent the last several summers in Greenland, participating in a project to gather data about Greenland's melting glaciers. He runs a website, "Climate Denial Crock of the Week," (https://climatecrocks.com/) which deals in some detail with the ignorance, illogic and absurdities of public figures who do not wish to believe in climate change. Peter made an excellent multi-media presentation to us in October of 2013.

Initial meeting of Royal Oak Ready for 100% group. We are asking the City of Royal Oak Mayor and Commissioners to commit to a goal of 100% clean, renewable electricity for all city facilities and operations. The reasons for this are many, ranging from "Saving the Earth" to saving money for the city, and certainly include making the city more sustainable for a future in which the cost and availability of energy is uncertain. We are reasonably certain that the sun will continue to rise every morning.

Guest Speaker - Mark Brewer

In 2012, Michigan Democrats cast 51% of their votes in Congressional races for Democratic candidates, but won only 36% of the seats. In 2016, 47% of the votes cast for Congress were for Democrats, but they again won only 36% of the seats. According to Mr Brewer and others, that's due to something called the "efficiency gap."
