Line 5 Presentation

Date:
Sun, Jun 25, 2017 - 4:00pm to 5:30pm

City:

David Holtz, Chair of Sierra Club Michigan, will give a presentation on Enbridge’s pipeline Line 5 that sits in the Straits of Mackinaw and which many experts believe pose a catastrophic threat to the fresh waters of the Great Lakes. There is growing bipartisan urgency to decommission this pipeline since it is 14 years past its expiration but politicians in Lansing continue to side with the big oil. The timing of this presentation is important as a coalition of environmental groups have the goal of generating strong support for shutting it down this summer!

Coalition to End Unconstitutional Tax Foreclosure

Sat, Jun 17, 2017 - 1:00pm to 3:00pm

City:

Between 2009-2015, the City of Detroit assessed 55% to 85% of its properties in violation of the Michigan Constitution. Unable to pay the resulting illegally inflated property taxes, over 100,000 of Detroit's working families have lost their homes.

If you have been subject to tax foreclosure or know someone who has, come share your stories and help craft the Coalition's restorative justice strategy at the
People’s Forum. There is free parking in front of the law school in Lot 32.
