Canvassing for Economic Justice in Macomb and Wayne Counties

Date:
Sat, Nov 4, 2017 - 11:30am to 2:00pm

City:

Southeast Michigan Jobs with Justice is helping get signatures for ROC-Michigan's One Fair Wage Campaign.

The Restaurant Opportunity Center's 2018 ballot proposal will raise the state minimum wage to $12 (progressively by 2022 for non-tipped workers; by 2024 for tipped workers). We'll be canvassing two neighborhoods, one in Detroit and one in Warren (Macomb County).

We believe issues of economic fairness and racial justice can help turnout the vote in 2018 in Detroit and turn around the vote in Macomb.

Join LP-Indivisible for our meeting with Senator Gary Peters' Detroit Regional Manager. We will raise questions regarding Peters' support for Ajit Pai as chair of FCC (Pai does not support net neutrality); his enthusiasm for defense funding for tank research and weaponized Stryker vehicles; and his silence on supporting Medicare for All. We will thank him for supporting Stabenow in pushing for extending funding for Community Health Clinics and CHIP.
