Prison Abolition: Imagining a World Without Cages

The United States locks up more people, per capita, than any other country with a staggering 2.3 million people in cages. Those locked up are disproportionately people of color, immigrants, and poor people.

Right now, Wayne County and Rock Ventures plan to spend $533 million dollars on a new Criminal Justice Complex (including an adult jail and youth jail), and Ionia is considering a proposed $35 million dollar immigrant detention center.

This conference was initially created in response the the white supremacist, Richard Spencer, asking to come to our campus last year.
