Michigan vs Michigan State: Petition for Earned Paid Sick Time!

Date:
Sat, Oct 7, 2017 - 5:00pm to 8:00pm

City:

Why should the workers of Michigan have to choose between our health and our family's economic security? Over 1 million people in Michigan do not receive paid sick time. This potential ballot proposal would require each worker to receive 1 hour paid sick time in return for 30 hours worked. That's the least we can do in working toward economic justice in our state.

On Tuesday, September 26, 16-year-old Ann Arbor resident Ciaeem Slaton was violently restrained (pinned to the ground, with the officer kneeling on his neck and back while pulling out his taser) by AAPD's Officer Marrow at the Blake Transit Center and given a "trespass" which stops him from riding the bus for one year. All of this because he wasn't carrying ID. The bus is Ciaeem's way to school and other activities.

Rally At YMCA Camp Birkett

Date:
Sat, Sep 30, 2017 - 2:00pm to 4:00pm

City:

Why Odorant? Why Honesty? Why Safety? Why are we letting a company put our families at risk. Please come join us to talk and get active about what we still can do to protect against ET Rover. As construction continues, its important to reach out to your neighbors to help them feel supported. This event is taking place at YMCA Camp Birkett on Silver Lake. Which happens to be 300 feet from a 42inch pipe. The pipe crosses all 3 rds around the camp making it an entrapment zone. An explosion of this magnitude would decimate all Silver Lake inhabitants.

After years of living on life support, public education is now in the terminal stages of its long battle with underfunding, privatization, segregation, and rich political donors.
With Betsy DeVos now serving as Secretary of Education, we believe public education from Pre-K through college is facing a mortal threat.
