Many urban centers, including Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids and Detroit, are booming, but that’s changing the look and character of these areas and impacting who lives there. New apartments and condos bring new residents and spur economic growth but does it have to be at the expense of affordable housing and lost green spaces?

Join Morning Edition host Doug Tribou as he hosts this discussion on the challenges posed by downtown development.

Don't Move, Fight Back! Housing Justice for Grand Rapids NOW!

Date:
Sun, Aug 5, 2018 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Join renters and homeowners who want to organize for housing justice on Sunday, August 5th at 6:00 pm in Garfield Park to build a platform that says "housing is a human right." The city’s corporate developer and landlord funded agenda isn’t what working people in Grand Rapids need. But we can create a people’s housing agenda for justice that centers on renters, low-income people and communities of color having a right to the city, and plan for actions to organize for a housing program that puts people over profit.
