Brunch for Brennon: Supporting Standing Rock Water Protectors

Sat, Mar 11, 2017 - 9:00am to 1:00pm

City:

Brennon Nastacio is a water protector who faced serious criminal charges after disarming a DAPL employee who showed up with an AR-15 at Pueblo Camp. Instead of being honored for keeping people safe in a tense and dangerous situation, he found himself in a protracted legal battle that restricted his ability to return home, work, and care for his two children. Today he is setting up a new life in Bismarck, North Dakota where he has been court ordered to remain for the foreseeable future. To learn more about his story, watch the coverage from The Young Turks and Democracy Now below.

Emergency Action: No DAPL, No Keystone XL

Date:
Fri, Jan 27, 2017 - 5:30pm to 8:30pm

City:

tRump signed presidential memorandums today in support of finishing both the Dakota Access Pipeline and the Keystone XL pipeline. Not only does this action threaten the environment, but it also sets a dangerous precedent for taking executive action regarding issues that affect indigenous populations. We must publically condemn this action and call upon federal officials to issue public statements against it.

STOP Funding DAPL

Date:
Thu, Dec 29, 2016 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

On this date we will be commemotating the anniversary of the massacre at Wounded Knee in 1890. There in a clear link between the genocidal policies of the US government in 1890, to the exploitative practices and the civil rights violations that have been happening at Standing Rock against the Water Protectors.

Standing Rock Solidarity Night

Sat, Dec 17, 2016 - 4:00pm to 9:00pm

Stop by for easy access to resources for showing solidarity with Standing Rock!

Earlier this month water protectors of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe won a great victory when the Army Corps of Engineers called for a halt on the construction for the Dakota Access Pipeline. While in some ways this was wonderful news leaving many feeling accomplished and inspired, it is important to remember that the fight is far from over.
