We have local candidates as well as state ballot initiatives coming to talk to us about how we can volunteer for their campaigns. Today, Michigan Legislators choose their voters, but democracy requires that voters choose their legislators.
Is this changing?

A presentation by the League of Women Voters will explain gerrymandering, including its history, the current situation in Michigan, and methods used by other states to redistrict. The Michigan ballot initiative, to have an independent redistricting commission, will be explained, along with its current status.
