Sylvia Orduno will tell us all about The People's Water Board Coalition's “Water Affordability plan.” Then, Valerie Blakey will present her lived experiences of the ongoing water crises across the state of Michigan, including Flint and the lesser publicized one in Detroit.

We call on the City of Detroit and the newly-formed Great Lakes Water Authority to cancel the existing debts of Detroit Water and Sewerage customers and start afresh with simple, affordable rates: all customer past-due balances are wiped clean.

Detroit made international headlines when tens of thousands of residents lost their access to water through an aggressive shut-off program by the water department.
