We're also discussing how to lobby our cities to adhere to the Paris Agreement. Indivisible has put out an amazing Save Our Planet took kit that we'll be using as well.

Every year since 1958, people from all walks of life walk the Mackinaw Bridge on Labor Day. This will be a great day to show solidarity that Line 5 needs to be removed from the Mackinac Straits. This pipeline was built in 1953-it needs to retire!
They won't allow signs or banners to be carried so we have to get creative, like writing a message on a t-shirt. Please share your ideas and join us🌞💧we will be meeting on the St Ignace side of the bridge. 6:30am. Walk begins at 7am

Walk the Bridge to Shut Down Line 5

Join us at the Labor Day Bridge Walk - walk together in solidarity for shutting down Line 5, or help pass out stickers to raise awareness of the risky Line 5 pipeline.

We encourage you to RSVP at the OWDM website - let us know if you will be walking (starting at 9:00 am) or helping to pass out "I Walked the Bridge next to the Risky Line 5 Pipeline" stickers (1-hour shifts starting at 8:30 am at the finish line).

We've been focusing intensively on the fight to shut down line 5. At this meeting, we'll discuss getting local municipalities on board with the Ready for 100 campaign, (committing to 100% renewable energy in a certain time frame.) There will also be an intro to Citizens Climate Lobby and their efforts to get Congress to enact a carbon fee. There are usually cookies and snacks at this meeting. :-)

July 25th, 2017 will mark 7 years since the largest inland tar sands oil spill in what is called the United States. Since Enbridge Line 6b ruptured and caused a 1 million gallon spill, another pipeline has been thrown into the headlines and can potentially be shut down and removed from the Straits of Mackinac.
