Environmental Justice

Beyond Coal - November General Meeting

Date:
Tue, Nov 28, 2017 - 6:30pm to 8:00pm

City:

This month’s theme is energy justice. As DTE Energy prepares to raise ALL our rates and build a natural gas plant, we’re planning to make sure environmental justice and communities of color are heard in the process. These communities often spend more on their energy bills than others and will bear the most impacts of climate change. Renewable energy is the only path forward to ensure long-term success and affordability.

Also on the agenda: meeting with our local representatives, updates on cities moving to 100% renewable energy (including an exciting update), and much more!

Location:
Beyond Coal Office: 2550 Hilton, Ferndale Michigan 48220 US

Thu, Oct 5, 2017 - 6:00pm to 8:30pm

The record-breaking storms Harvey and Irma, which devastated Texas and Florida, are a warning that the predicted effects of climate change are already occurring. Detroit area groups concerned about the increasingly severe effects of climate change on those Detroit citizens already impacted by environmental injustice, want to know how city leaders are planning for the threats of climate change. Consequently, these seven groups are cosponsoring a candidate discussion with the theme of Moving Detroit Forward – Advancing Environmental Justice in a Changing Climate.
