Michigan-Meta Peace Team Nonviolence Training for Activists and Friends

Starting with the understanding that the primary violence in our world is structural and expressed in systems of oppression, the training will invite participants to learn and practice a variety of active nonviolence skills, including strategies to challenge and interrupt the intimidation and harassment that have escalated since the election. The training will also explore the efficacy of peace teams, offering those who complete the training opportunities to join MPT domestic peace teams and apply to serve on international teams

Citizens for Peace Meeting: The Power of Nonviolence to Transform Ourselves and Our World

Rev. C. Peter Dougherty will share his wisdom and experience of the transformative effect of nonviolence on individuals, groups, and countries around the world. As the co-founder of the Michigan based Meta Peace Team, Rev. Dougherty has seen the positive effects of nonviolence to deter inter-group violence at hate group rallies, LGBT Pride Parades, and other controversial events all around the U.S. The Meta Peace Team has also had a far-reaching effect in countries around the world, including Bosnia, Mexico, Haiti, Iraq, Canada, ElSalvado and Palestine. All are welcome!
