On Tuesday night, the Michigan Poor People's campaign, and the Detroit Light Brigade will stand on the other side of the wall from Bill and Tommy who are being held at the Ingham County Jail. We will join our cries with theirs as we light candles to remember all of those who are incarcerated that night. Join us for an interfaith, candlelit vigil to stand against the prison system. We will read and sing and hold silence for an end to mass incarceration.

The United States locks up more people, per capita, than any other country with a staggering 2.3 million people in cages. Those locked up are disproportionately people of color, immigrants, and poor people.
Right now, Wayne County and Rock Ventures plan to spend $533 million dollars on a new Criminal Justice Complex (including an adult jail and youth jail), and Ionia is considering a proposed $35 million dollar immigrant detention center.
