Raise the Age Michigan: Grand Rapids Discussion

The ACLU of Michigan in collaboration with Michigan Council on Crime and Delinquency (MCCD) and Michigan League of Public Policy (MLPP) are advocating for legislation to raise the age of juvenile jurisdiction from 17 to 18 and remove all youth under the age of 18 from adult correctional facilities and relocate them to facilities which can adequately serve their developmental needs.

Former Political Prisoner to Speak in Mqt.

Pinkney will speak at the 11 a.m. service and again at a community event at 1:30 about his experience as a political prisoner, as well as his crusade to bring justice to the people of Benton Harbor, MI. This almost 20 year effort has resulted in his being imprisoned twice, the last time for 2 1/2 years for allegedly changing a date on a recall petition.
