Experts from across the country will converge in Detroit at Wayne Law on Friday, Nov. 10, for this free, day-long symposium on detention, "sanctuary cities" and the "travel ban," with a special luncheon panel on the recent detention of Chaldeans in the Detroit area.

The conference is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required. Admission cannot be guaranteed without advance registration.

UPDATE: Becasue this is an ordinance (rather than a resolution) and it's the second (final) reading/vote, I believe that EVERYONE who wants to, can speak on Monday night. Even if you don't make it onto the speakers' list at the beginning of the meeting, there is a place on the agenda for people to speak about the "Don't Ask" ordinance.

On Tuesday night the Ann Arbor City Council will have a first reading of an ordinance originally intended to strengthen Ann Arbor's protections of undocumented community members.

The proposed ordinance currently has at least two very dangerous provisions for our undocumented residents.

Rally and Attend Ann Arbor City Council Meeting--Sanctuary

There are enough people interested that we can do a rally before the meeting. Bring your signs and meet outside of City Hall at 5:30, we can bring attention to the issue for an hour before heading up to the meeting.

To speak during the public commentary time at the beginning of the meeting, call the city clerk's office at 734-794-6140 beginning at 8 a.m. on the day of the meeting.
