Public Tribunal: Building the Movement to Fight Rape and Sexual Assault featuring Aarefah Mosavi

“Justice does exist. Survivors across the world have asked where it is. I say, it’s in the palm of your hands! Those of us who have endured such atrocities are not the weak; those rapists are the failures of society. The rapists are the predators, and such people should pay dearly for what they have chosen to do!” -Aarefah Mosavi

Lessenberry protest

Date:
Tue, May 22, 2018 - 6:00pm to 9:00pm

City:

A protest to encourage Wayne State University to take meaningful, and proper action against professor, lecturer and journalism area head Jack Lessenberry. In light of recent events, and allegations of misconduct for decades, we’ve decided to take action as current and former Warriors. He is not the kind of person we feel should be representing our university, or the journalism program. It’s important the proper faculty and administration are aware of our strong feelings to have his teaching privileges revoked.

MSU It's On Us Screening of The Hunting Ground

Date:
Thu, Apr 19, 2018 - 9:00pm to 11:00pm

Join It's On Us and United Brody Black Caucus in watching The Hunting Ground, a documentary about the issue of sexual assault on college campuses across the U.S., and the failure of school administrations to listen to survivors and respond to the epidemic adequately. Although Michigan State is not mentioned specifically in the documentary, recent events like the Larry Nassar scandal and the allegation of rape by members of the MSU basketball team prove that sexual assault most certainly occurs on our campus, and has been a problem for many years.

Every woman has faced sexual harassment -- on the job, in the market, in the streets. Every woman knows of a boss who offers you a better job -- a bargain for sexual favors. And women know it's a vicious bargain. Today, some women have begun to speak out. But there are many more -- working class women -- who would lose their jobs if they did. The fight for their rights goes through the fight of the whole working class against a society run by all kinds of predators.
