Rally to Halt the Academic Partnerships Contract

Date:
Fri, Dec 15, 2017 - 11:00am to 11:30am

City:

Join EMUFT, EMU-AAUP, and the campus community for a rally in front of Welch Hall to halt EMU's contract with Academic Partnerships, a private, for-profit firm in Texas, to market EMU-branded degrees entirely online -- with no in-person classroom instruction. These degrees will carry the EMU name. But they won't have the quality, scholarship and service that are hallmarks of a true EMU education.

It's time to hit the pause button and send this secretive deal to the EMU faculty for a thorough review.

Welch Hall, Ypsilanti, MI 48197, United States

Paint the Rock-Abolish Mascots

Date:
Thu, Sep 21, 2017 - 9:00pm to 10:00pm

Native American Law Students Association invites the Indigenous community, law community, and allies to Paint the Rock to draw awareness to the issue of Native American mascots. Michigan Senate Bill 487 would ban the use of "Redskins" in schools. Currently, five schools in Michigan use “Redskins” as their mascot. The United Tribes of Michigan passed a resolution denouncing the use of the term.

We plan to paint the rock for display on Michigan Indian Day, so need volunteers to stand guard during the day to secure our spot and during the night until sunrise.
