The Washtenaw Interfaith Coalition for Immigrant Rights (WICIR) is a organization dedicated to helping serve our immigrant and undocumented communities here in Washtenaw County. There is a sizable undocumented community in Washtenaw County. Here's more information written by a brilliant post-doc at U of M: https://theconversation.com/how-trumps-immigration-enforcement-could-affect-families-and-communities-69019

It's scary times we live in right now, but one thing that we know is that we have each other...and brunch! Lets spend our Sunday expressing our feelings and helping some of our most at risk fellow community members.

Since 2008, there have been at least 261 raids here in our area. A single raid has been shown to impact the health and well-being of family, friends, neighbors and whole communities. WICIR provides valuable services such as legal advice and support for immigrants who face deportation, a emergency phone carried by members that can be used to help bring a WICIR emergency response team to a home that is being raided by ICE, support groups and counseling to the children and youth that have been affected by such raids, and much more. They are a worthy organization that will be very much need in the next four years.

Come over for brunch and learn more about what you can do! It's a fundraiser, so we ask that you donate what you can, and we will tally up the amount as the day goes on and let you know how we're doing. Brunch includes waffles, fresh fruit, roasted potatoes and sweet potatoes, eggs, coffee, tea, AND mimosas!

We want to provide fellow allies and activists with a safe space to build community. Please feel free to bring guests, friends, strangers on the street! The more the merrier!
