Immigration & Charlottesville Action | Indivisible Grand Rapids

Date:
Sun, Aug 27, 2017 - 4:00pm to 5:30pm

In the wake of the Charlotesville violence and growing threats that DACA will be rescinded, join us Sunday, August 27 at 4 pm to do something about it.

Join Indivisible Grand Rapids for our monthly meeting to learn how to get involved and better understand how to make your voice heard at the federal, state, and local government levels.

Our speaker this month, Leticia Heusties, is the Immigration Relief Coordinator and only Grand Rapids staff member for Michigan United Organization. She will speak about the crucial DACA defense work necessary in the next few months and how to protect the families and children of undocumented immigrants in the event of arrest of deportation. We will also welcome two local DACA students from GRCC who will share their own stories.

DACA (Defferred Action for Childhood arrivals) defense is a program from the Obama administration that provides crucial protection for children brought from other countries at a young age, they may be in jeopardy of being deported under the Trump administration. Let's learn how to keep DACA in place!
