Right now, in 41 states, including Washington D.C, coordinating committees across the nation are preparing for actions in their states with the Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival.

In Michigan, we are preparing for our first public action to take place at the state capitol in Lansing on Monday, May 14th. Others will follow week by week.

As we mourned the 50th anniversary of the death of Martin Luther King Jr. we were mindful that the evils of the late 60’s are still very much at work today. Systemic racism, poverty, the war economy, ecological devastation, and a distorted moral narrative impact everyone in our state and country, and they especially impact the most vulnerable.

This training will include:

1. An overview of the history and principles of the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival

2. Campaign songs

3. Building Relationship,Trust, Community between those acting

4. Discussing and practicing non-violence in body and mind

Making together the Covenant of Nonviolence for the Poor People’s Campaign

***This training is essential if you wish to engage in the Michigan Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival day of action and any nonviolent moral fusion direct action that we plan. (We will also offer more trainings before May 14th in different areas of the state.)

Attending this training does not mean you must participate in the day of action on May 14th or subsequent dates. Nor does it mean you are committing to engage in civil disobedience.
