Progressives in the Park 2019

Date:
Tue, Aug 13, 2019 - 4:00pm to 8:00pm

Get ready for Progressives in the Park III

Save the date: August 13th, Tuesday, from 4:00-8:00 pm in Wilcox Park. More details and information coming soon.

Progressives in the Park is a street fair, but in a park and about progressive politics. There will be informational booths and tables where you can meet and connect with elected officials, candidates, and progressive organizations. Learn how to join new and veteran groups and sign up to volunteer on campaigns. It's one stop shopping for progressives ready to take their activism to the next level now in order to win in 2019 and 2020. As always, the event takes place the Tuesday after the August primary election.

The event is fun for the whole family: grab a bite to eat at a few food trucks, visit the ice cream stand, listen to music, stop by the beer tent, and generally hang out with progressive friends. Be sure to bring the kids and have them ready to play in the park's splash pad! Bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets if you like, and be ready to have a bunch of fun.

Last year's Progressives in the Park was a big success! Speakers included Congressman Dan Kildee, future Attorney General Dana Nessel, future Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, future State Senator Winnie Brinks, future State Reps David LaGrand and Rachel Hood, as well future UofM Regents Paul Brown and Jordan Acker, future MSU Trustees Brianna Scott and Kelly Tebay, future State Board of Education member Judy Pritchett, future GRPS School Board members, and representatives of the soon-to-be-victorious Proposals 2 & 3. Future Governor Gretchen Whitmer ended PIP2 by rallying supporters who helped her win an unprecedented 11,000 vote margin-of-victory in Kent County. Over 2000 people attended last year and we'll be even bigger event this year!

This event is FREE to attend.
