This is an organized event to start sending supplies to support the Camp in northern Michigan fighting line 5. It is intended to both become an ongoing process, and hopefully ignite other communities to begin organizing locally to support the fight for the great lakes and to organize local community together. We will have space for donations and also teaching and activities happening. .

@11:30 AM Teaching Blockadia: A role-play activity engages students in building solidarity among different groups and organizations fighting fossil fuels and searching for alternatives.

@12:30pm Standing with Standing Rock: A Role Play on the Dakota Access Pipeline. A role play that helps students recognize the issues at stake in the historic struggle of the Standing Rock Sioux to block construction of the Dakota Access oil pipeline.

@1:30pm Teaching Sacrifice Zones : Our extractive fossil fuel-based economy has always demanded that some people’s homes and health be sacrificed for the benefit of more privileged and powerful others. This article explores how one teacher engages her students in thinking about how “sacrifice zones” play out in their lives.
