Cosecha Crowd Safety Training (Calvin)

As we build up to the big May 1st March, Cosecha GR needs people, especially allies who can be trained as marshals for actions that Cosecha GR organizes. The role of marshals is to keep people safe from violence, the violence of racist individuals, hate groups and police.

The trainings last 2.5 hours and include a lot of role playing, so that people can be better prepared to deal with a number of circumstances we may face.

Dredging the Grand River: Environmental and Economic Impacts

At a packed meeting of the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, April 9, there was strong opposition to The Grand River Waterway, a developer’s proposal to dredge 22.5 miles of the river. Citizens, government officials, environmentalists, public safety officials, and heads of regional agencies raised concerns about boater safety, shoreline erosion, impact on aquatic habitat, velocity of flow, release of contaminants from riverbed sediment, noise, congestion, and much more.
